After completing my master`s degree in law, I specialized in trademarks in one of the leading Italian IP law firms. Since WIPO is a reference point for standards, especially with regard to the Madrid system, I applied for an internship to learn more from this specialized agency of the United Nations. (a) persons pursuing their higher education and having completed their studies, but not the thesis; or (b) persons who obtained their last university degree less than two years after the date of the application for the internship. (c) persons who obtained a higher education diploma more than two years ago and who are currently enrolled in further postgraduate studies. Although I have no background in IP law, I have regularly visited the WIPO website and found that there are many opportunities for non-IP specialists. In fact, IP is becoming increasingly important in international trade, which is why I applied for an internship at WIPO. Now I support a multicultural and professional team in the department of programming and finance, administration and management. Participating in an internship at the WIPO Coordination Office in New York gave me a better understanding of how international organizations work in the real world. Your profile will be reviewed against specific internship opportunities as they arise during the year. The selection procedure may also include a written examination. Once a candidate has been contacted for an opportunity, it usually takes several weeks for the selection to be completed and for all shortlisted candidates to be aware of the outcome.
